schools supplies

I have never taken for granted how fortunate I am in my life. I have always had the support and guidence from family members and great friends. Becuase of this support I have always condisered my life to be full, whole. One of the most enriching moments of my life as a teachers has been the parents I have met, the memories we've created and the friendships we have built. From this day I can reach back over years and remember those specific parents who have inspired me or touched me in some way that they may never even realize or know. I have a lousy memory, but I can remember kids I taught and families that I shared from one year to four years of my life. Parents that have allowed me to share in their child's life even when they have reached the age of 8, 9 or 10.
I bring all of this up, because I just recently reached out to those parents and friends, again. I asked them to reach into their hearts and pockets and help provide some school supplies for kids in foster care. I was confident that one way I could serve these families and children, was to call on my friends to help. The author, Gay Courter from her book "I Speak for this Child" ended her book with the simple ways she could help her children as a CASA. She described these simple things as making a doctor appointment, getting the children in special classes, listening and encouraging. She wrote;

"These Children are neither failures nor successes, they are
evolving human beings."

I can tell you from the smilies on the children's faces and the grateful look in the parents eyes, they were truly thankful for your kindness. I am forever thankful for your inspirations.
I wanted to share something fun and inspiring you can do with your family. The Great Kindness Challenge is happening August 14th. This is one day devoted to performing acts of kindness with millions of children around the world. This event is sponsored by; Kids for Peace that hopes to teach kids to spread love through action!
